A pre-roll is exactly what it sounds like — flower, ground and rolled, ready to use. We carry singles for trying something without committing to a jar, and multipacks, which are the better value and travel well.

Pre-rolls are the most popular first purchase for new patients, for an obvious reason: there is nothing to learn, grind or roll.

Infused pre-rolls

Infused pre-rolls add concentrate — kief, rosin or distillate — to the flower. They are noticeably stronger, and worth treating as a different product rather than a stronger version of the same one. Two things to know:

• They burn differently. Concentrate makes them slower and sometimes uneven; expect to relight.
• They count far more heavily against your allotment. An infused pre-roll can use several times the MMECU of a standard one.

Quality — what to look for

Not all pre-rolls are equal, and the difference is usually what went into them. Well-made ones use whole flower; cheaper ones can be filled with shake and trim, which burns harsher and tastes of very little. Ask us what is in a particular pack — we will tell you straight, and we do not stock the bad ones.

A good pre-roll is packed evenly, holds its shape, and burns in a straight line rather than running down one side.

Storage

Keep pre-rolls in their tube or pack. Left loose they dry out fast, and a dried-out joint burns hot and tastes bitter. Cool and dark, same as flower.

Common questions

Are infused pre-rolls much stronger?

Yes, substantially. Added concentrate raises total THC sharply, and they count far more heavily against your MMCP allotment than a standard pre-roll. If you are new, start with a standard one.

What is in a cheap pre-roll?

Often shake and trim — the small pieces left after handling flower — which burns harsher and carries less flavour. Better pre-rolls use whole flower. Ask us what is in a specific pack; we will tell you straight.

Why does my joint burn down one side?

Usually uneven packing or a draw that is too hard. A well-made pre-roll burns evenly. Infused pre-rolls are an exception — the concentrate makes them burn slower and less predictably, and relighting is normal.

How this counts against your MMCP allotment

Pre-rolls are counted like flower, by weight: 1g = 0.286 MMECU (the same flat rate as 3.5g = 1 MMECU). Infused pre-rolls are different — the added concentrate raises total THC sharply, so they are counted on milligrams and take a much larger bite out of your allotment. Check the label before you buy a pack.

Mississippi measures purchases in MMECU (Mississippi Medical Equivalency Cannabis Units), where 1 MMECU = 1,000mg THC = 3.5g of flower. Different formats are counted differently, which is why the same spend can use very different amounts of your allotment. Use our allotment checker to work out a specific basket.
